Over 1000 SVP Members attend Mass at Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral
SVP members from all over England and Wales attended the SVP’s National Weekend on 23rd and 24th June. The weekend, entitled ‘Welcoming the Stranger’, focused on the Vincentian Family and was one of a series of worldwide events which will be held during the year to mark the 400th Anniversary (1617 - 2017) of the ‘Society’s work and spirituality. Another of these events will be the Symposium for the entire Vincentian Family, which will take place in Rome from 12th-15th October 2017 and at which His Holiness Pope Francis will be attending and making an address.
Following a full programme of workshops and Guest Speakers, the SVP National Weekend culminated with a ‘Eucharistic Celebration’ Mass, held at the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral and read by The Most Reverend Archbishop Malcolm McMahon OP, Archbishop of Liverpool.St Werburgh’s SVP Conference was represented at the National Weekend by Member John O’Sullivan, who said he was delighted to meet fellow SVP Members from across the country and most impressed by the work of SVP National Office in organising such a successful and well-attended event.
2017 was my first ever SVP National Weekend but it definitely won’t be my last! The workshops and speakers were superb and I learned so much; whilst the Mass was one of the most beautiful I have ever attended. I will certainly be urging my fellow Conference Members to enrol for 2018 as soon as it’s announced!
