St Werburgh’s SVP played a significant support role in the huge success of the Church’s first ever (mid) Summer Fete, held today.
The event, intended to help celebrate the St Werburgh’s 150th Anniversary whilst also acting as a fundraiser for the local ‘Hospice of the Good Shepherd’, was a superb example of organisation and implementation (by Lynn Williams and her excellent Team), bringing together an impressive array of second-hand book stalls, toys, bric-a-brac, Tombola and ‘vinted’ clothing – and all staffed by cheerful, smiling, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed Werbie’s.
The supporting SVP coffee, cake and cream scone stall was similarly sustained, with ‘El Presidente’ Marco Abbiati leading an enthusiastic and well-trained team in the dispensing of much-needed cups of tea and other delicious comestibles, throughout the day.
“Once again, St Werburgh’s SVP played its part.” said a clearly proud and delighted Marco, afterwards. “Our efficient set-up of tables, cups, plates and water heaters enabled us to hand-out lots of refreshments to stall-holders and visitors, whilst our ‘Easi-Up gazebo’ meant that in spite of the rain showers the team was able to keep dry and busy from start ‘til finish.”
Our photos show Marco and the SVP team enjoying their own ‘refreshment’ at the end of the long day, and one of the team’s publicity banners.
