What a great success this was! Everyone has come back enthusing about the beauty of the Pilgrimage: the chance to make this religious journey to the historical shrine of Holywell as well as enjoying the social company of so many other Werbies. And then again, it was a beautiful walk in lovely countryside in amazing weather. All these factors make for a great Pilgrimage, almost thirty Pilgrims on the journey and only possible by the incredibly efficient organisation of the leaders. We cannot thank you enough for making this wonderful part of our 150th celebrations not only possible but such a triumphant success. Please, Pilgrims, keep those photos coming in for the write-up that our Bishop has requested for the Diocesan Yearbook.
Another beautiful day, twenty-five of us from various Deanery Parishes on the train down, enjoying the walk through this fantastic medieval town with coffee on the way at the old Salop Royal Infirmary. Once at the Cathedral we had Mass, lunch, a guided tour and the whole day finishing with Stations of the Cross. Many thanks to everyone at the Cathedral for making it possible! The next Day Pilgrimage to Shrewsbury is Thursday 31st July, so do sign up on the list if you’d like to come.
Many thanks to Mommalat for another fantastic theatre trip, the open-air Shakespeare at Hillbark on the Wirral. A few showers of rain didn’t put our hardy thespians off one jot, and we all enjoyed a beautiful production of this classic play. Next show: Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club!
These are coming in rather slowly! Could all groups get their dates in asap so that we can start plotting them on a enormous spread-sheet and seeing where the clashes are?
Halfway through our 150th year of celebrations: so much achieved and enjoyed, so much to look forward to. Can you share your response to the question of what St Werburgh’s means to YOU? Contributions that can form part of our record of this exciting year, plus any offers of help with collecting and collating the answers, can be made to stuart.murray103@googlemail.com
