Following our wonderful Holywell and Shrewsbury Pilgrimages and our fantastic Summer Fête, the next event in our exciting 150th Year is the Open Week of Faith, here in our church from Sunday 13th to Sunday 20th July. The church will be open each day, weekends 2.00 – 4.00 pm, and weekdays 1.00 – 7.00 pm, with some beautiful and thought-provoking displays and handouts. We hope as many people as possible will want to wander in off the street, spend some time here, look at the displays, pick up a leaflet… Who knows what seeds might be sown? Actually, God knows, and this week could be the start of an amazing Faith Journey for at least one wizziter. Then the five weekdays will end with a short service at 7.30 each day:
The church will stay open till 9.00 pm each evening. Enormous thanks to the “Two Claires” (Egan and Black) for putting this wonderful week together, and to everyone who’s wolunteered to be a Steward.
Our next Day Pilgrimage to our Cathedral is at the end of the month: 25 places, half gone! We go down by the 09.24 train, back on the 16.25 and enjoy a wonderful day in our Diocesan Cathedral and in this entrancing town.
Sign up TODAY if you’d like to come with us!
25 of us are going back in time to the Berlin of the 1930’s, Sally Bowles vamping in the Kit-Kat Club while, outside, the Nazis rise to power… One of the great musicals.
Just a couple of groups we’re waiting for and then…
Halfway through our 150th year of celebrations: so much achieved and enjoyed, so much to look forward to. Can you share your response to the question of what St Werburgh’s means to YOU? Contributions that can form part of our record of this exciting year, plus any offers of help with collecting and collating the answers, can be made to stuart.murray103@googlemail.com
We set ourselves the target of £15,000 as £100 for every year our present church has been open. Thanks to your amazing generosity, that figure’s already been reached – and passed! Are we stopping now? You bet your life we’re not! 31st December is the finishing line: meanwhile, another wonderful £810.18 has come in this week, largely from two extremely generous personal donations.

You’ve all been incredibly kind in giving me jars of jam and marmalade over the years when making some yourselves, and I’ve really enjoyed them. But the supply has far exceeded the demand! So, please help yourselves from the table at the back of church. Can’t guarantee quality but jam doesn’t go off, does it?
Our next concert here in church is “Music for a Summer Evening – Baritone, Piano and Organ” – by our good friends Henry Snith and Marcus Coleridge.
