If all goes according to plan, Fr David will be flying out of Bogota in Colombia on Monday 6th October on his way to us in St Werburgh’s. Let’s all keep him in our prayers as he begins the long journey back to UK, up to the Diocese and then here to St Werburgh’s. We are all so looking forward to welcoming him here at St Werburgh’s. If all goes well with his travel plans, Fr David will be with us next weekend of 11th/12th October. I know we will give him a Wonderfully Warm Wholehearted Werbies Welcome! (= 5 W’s!) [You can go too far, you know. Ed] Please keep him in your prayers as he travels to us.
And so much besides. A Pioneer Turntable needing repairs, a fold-up mattress in a big blue green carrying bag, a roulette wheel, and the inevitable books! Just help yourselves, as they’re all looking for a good home. Delighted all the Old English (Anglo-Saxon) books found homes last week. Beowulf and Grendel live again! Next week, a fondue set and a cuddly toy… Good game?
Helen’s St Werburgh Goose Banner is now on display next to her statue. Stunning, isn’t it? Thanks, Helen!
Lots of events taking place: do please take a brochure.
“For a number of years, I have been in contact with the Sisters of Poor Clares and have recently become involved in their proposed building works at the convent in Hereford. Whilst I will be offering my services as Contract Administrator and Quantity Surveyor on a gratis basis, we are now at the stage where an Architect and Structural Engineer are also required. Such personnel would have to carry the requisite Professional Indemnity Insurance. Can anyone help out? robpilliner@rjp-commercial.co.uk ”

To start straight away. You do not have to be a parent of a child in the school, but you must be a practising Catholic. The main focus would be on what you can bring to the Board which like any business needs a wide range of skills. It is the Bishop who appoints foundation governors. For further information or for a visit: www.educationshrewsbury.org/governance. You would need the signature of your Parish Priest and DBS checks.
With grateful thanks to all who made the workshop a success: Tom Coxhead for putting together the excellent programme, leading the session with such enthusiasm, and making it so enjoyable; Tom Rozario for the organisation and arrangements; Katy, Liz and Mary for the cakes and managing the refreshments; and everyone who attended on the day.

Another wonderful celebration of our youngsters, the focus this time very much on our sixth formers, our 16–18-year-olds. Fantastic to welcome so many members of our High School, Staff and Pupils. You all made it very special! As we always say, they are the Church of tomorrow. Our future – and the only future we’ve got! Let’s make sure we nurture them.
Come and have a chat and a cuppa between 1.15 pm and 2.45 pm on Wednesday 8th October.
A lovely ministry, welcoming both our Werbies and our Wizziters. Do please join us if you can.
Once the net curtains had been taken down, this was the wonderful view from the Presbytery, taken by Grungethacket on a crisp February morning.
