By late 1935 most of the work of the internal furnishing of the church was well on the way to completion. Canon Hayes was, however, still immersed in the detailed completion of the church furnishings with the architect. An example of this is the stone crosses in the porch. Here is a letter in the Kirby files dated 22 October 1935 from Henry A. Clegg & Sons, Masonry Contractors, City Road, Chester, who estimated the cost of cutting the two crosses to be 10/- each.
