St Werburgh’s Parish Safeguarding

New team in place now and we will be reviewing the DBS Clearance of all our volunteers who work with children and/or vulnerable adults. Top priority: SVP, Home Holy Communion EM’s, Children’s Liturgy, FHC Catechists and Confirmation Catechists. We’ll inform you if you need Clearance and arrange a good time for it.

King’s School Concert This Afternoon – 2.30 pm

The choir have 12 anthems to sing - Music by Byrd, Stanford, Duruflé, Fauré, Haydn, Bullock, Ireland, Farrant and Gjeilo. All warmly welcome!

Message from the Catholic High School

“We are hoping to start a praise and worship music group in the local area of Chester and Ellesmere Port and are currently seeking a pianist and drummer. We will be performing on a fairly regular basis and wish to play similar music to Tim Hughes, Michael W Smith and Matt Redman.  If you are/know of any competent pianists or drummers above the age of 18 please contact Ant Hunt on 07714 160 268.”

SVP Theatre Night – ‘Dial M for Murder’ 

7.30 pm Wednesday 6th June Gladstone Theatre, Port Sunlight – always a great night out. Tickets at £9 will be available for sale after Masses this weekend and next weekend, 12th/13th May.

SVP Second Collection to support their summer outing for the Elderly and Housebound will take place at all Masses on 19th/20th May.

Next meeting is Wednesday 9th May at 2.00 pm in the Parish House.

Always good to congratulate Parishioners when they receive awards and honours. Delighted for them. Jealous? Me? No, not in the least. Why would I be? Not that a measly little DBE or Knighthood would exactly hurt them. So, truly honoured in the week to get one medal at last – for my 100th Blood Donation! On the Altar for you all to admire. But do you find the idea of 100 people out there walking around with a pint of Papa P’s finest in their veins as scary as I do?
