New Sung Mass Continues Today

Last week, we introduced the Refrain of the Gloria from Dan Schutte’s ‘Mass of Christ the Saviour’, and today, at 9.00, we go on to the sung Verses.

Diocesan Mass for Marriage

Saturday 9th February 2019, 12 noon. Couples celebrating significant Anniversaries during 2019 and newly married couples can receive a personal invitation from the Bishop. Names to FP, please. At St Columba’s Chester.

January’s Week of Prayer for Christian Unity

Many thanks to everyone who turned out for the special Service for Church Unity at Christleton Methodists last Sunday Night. Over twenty combined Music Group and Choir Songsters made a wonderfully Joyful Sound Unto the Lord!

FHC Parish Group

The next meeting for parents and children takes place in the Parish House on Tuesday 12th Feb at 6.30 pm. The children will need their pencil cases and their folders. They will receive a First Holy Communion Preparation Book.

New Tax Year Weekly Offertory Envelopes

The 2019/20 envelopes are available at the back of church. If you use envelopes, please collect yours as soon as possible. Thank you.

West Side Story at Manchester Royal Exchange

It runs 6th April to 25th May, so full details of our Parish Trip will be out next weekend. Time to get those dancing pumps on, Officer Krupke!

Lent Stations and Devotions

Very good Liturgy Group Meeting on Tuesday, reviewing Advent and Christmastide and planning for Lent and Easter. We will have 6 Friday Evening Lenten Services, 3 Stations of the Cross and 3 Lenten Devotions. If you’d like to take one of these, please let FP know as soon as possible.

Caritas (Children’s Society) Visit Last Week

Thank you for the excellent response to the Caritas re-launch last weekend which generated 47 new box holders as well as a couple of donations. If you would like to become a box holder but were unable to sign up last weekend, there are a few spare boxes and a list for your contact details on the table at the back of church, or please see Dominique or Nathalie at 9.00 am Mass. Let’s get that figure up to 100!

The regular ‘First Thursday’ Hospital Mass

7th February at 12.15 pm in the Countess of Chester Hospital Chapel. For patients, outpatients, staff, families and friends, and the wellbeing of our hospitals, including the Bowmere. All are welcome.

Health and Safety

The Diocesan Adviser came on Thursday and has now sent a very useful ‘To Do’ List. Volunteers for our Parish H&S Group expect an email this week!

Parish Day out to Oscott: Wednesday 27th March

We are delighted that we’ve been given permission to visit the Seminary at Oscott where many students for our Diocese are now training. Coach from Chester, then we shall have the privilege of Holy Mass being celebrated in the College Chapel. A light lunch will follow, and we will then a tour of the College by some of our own Diocesan Seminarians. Bookings open Today! Total cost for the whole trip: £20. Book NOW!
