Caritas Donations

Using the traditional collection boxes has proved difficult, even impossible, during lockdowns - but the work of the Charity and the need for its support has increased. It’s the Catholic Church’s Social Work arm, and as a Parish we’ve always supported it splendidly. So, a poster at the back of church gives the QR code for online donations. Or you can send a cheque to Caritas, Wheatland Lane, Wallasey, CH44 7ED. Please keep using your collection boxes, as we hope it won’t be too long before we organise a round-up of them. Standing Order and Gift Aid forms from Dominique on dmgresty0620@gmail.com or 07757-518-312.

Pauline Hackett RIP

We were all deeply saddened to hear news last weekend that Pauline had reached Journey’s End on this earth but rejoicing that she’s reached her Heavenly Homeland on the other side. An amazing servant of this Parish and its SVP for the best part of forty years. Well done, thou good and faithful servant! Her Requiem Mass is here in St Werburgh’s on Friday 22nd October at 12.30 pm.

Fancy Being a Wrinklie?

Fantastic Turn-out last Sunday, eighteen Stoodies and Wrinklies in total. Plus, one eternally youthful Chaplain. Jane, David, Geoff, Jill and Eileen were joined by Lal, Paul and Natasha. The latter two were a Liverpool CathSoc romance and marriage. 2½ soon to be 3! The ½ will then be our youngest wrinklie by about 82 years...

Sacristans Old and New

As most of you are aware, we’ve lost a number of Sacristans for one reason or another over the last eighteen months. At the same time, we are still being very cautious about only the Priest touching the Sacred Vessels. Sacristans perform a vital Ministry, so please watch this space, old and new, for a relaunch coming soon.

As I said on the Blog, the library has been beautifully revamped, and is now a much more welcoming space for the students to go at lunchtime and read.
